In Memory of Music, Editorial Illustration

As a child family holidays were often spent in Ullapool,
Scotland. Each week there would be folk sessions in the local pubs. As I was young, my memories of this time are
fragmented however the memories and music from the
sessions have always brought me comfort. In this project I
explore the memories I have of these music sessions using
the medium of cyanotype and embroidery. In Memory of Music
is a collection of embroidered cyanotype fabric pieces which
focus on musical elements from my own family image archive
of Scottish folk sessions I attended as a child. These outcomes were used to create two variations of editorial spreads, one with a focus on the craft and one on ‘Small Town Folk Sessions’.
